Exhibition design of the permanent collection
Curator: H. Ulrich Mauterer, Gabriele Stöger-Spevak
Client: Stift Herzogenburg
In commemoration of its 900th anniversary, the Stift Herzogenburg Monastery in Lower Austria commissioned us to redesign their permanent exhibition space. The challenge was to present the artwork in a contemporary way without interfering with the new renovated baroque ambience of the monastery itself. Inspired by the architectural design of a Ciborium (a canopy-like structure build over the altar of a Christian church), we created a modern art depot. A steel construction was set up in which the art collection is permanently preserved. During a tour through the exhibition the guide makes the collection visible by moving the sliding doors.
